BLOSSOM LIKE THE FLOWER
© 2006 Matthew Kushi
The flower bloomed on the eighth of June
When my baby girl came to me.
The flower bloomed in beautiful colors of joy,
For the whole world to see.
The blooming flower was such a beautiful sight
But not as pretty as my young girl.
She looked at the flower for a long time
Before she asked, “Will I ever be as pretty as the flower?”
Don’t you worry my little lady,
For your time will come.
One day you will blossom like the flower,
For the whole world to see.
As my baby came down the stairs,
My heart swelled with pride.
Dressed in a white laced dress,
She asked if she looked pretty for her guy.
Now don’t you worry my little lady,
For your time will come.
One day you will blossom like the flower,
For the whole world to see.
Now as I sit and watch my girl walk down the aisle,
My eyes are filled with tears.
With a college degree and a ring on her finger,
My daughter has blossomed like the flower,
For the whole world to see.
