Riddle of Love

Riddle of Love
Matthew Kushi

Small town man, not even six feet tall
But strong and standing on his own two feet –
Standing tall on the ground.
Seen some storms
And I’ve seen days where the sky
Caresses you without a sound.

Now,  I’ve survived the times when the sky was black
And I’ve solved riddles a-plenty.
But there is still a riddle that I haven’t solved.
Ever since the start of time,
Love is the riddle that I never could really solve.

Through it all, still looking for love –
Looking for someone to take this man
Who’s feet are planted on the ground
And turn him upside down.
I’ve lost plenty in this life
But I’m still hoping to find the one.

Well, I guess, when all is said and done,
I guess I’m just an old fashioned square
Don’t know if that’s good or bad that I’m aware.
Just looking for love and a love that’s real,
Oh, give me a chance and I hope that you too will feel
The old fashioned love
From the heart of one who has seen a thing or two.
I’ll treat you like the strong woman that you are
With admiration, respect and love,
If you’ll do the same.

Well, now I swear
I’m a man of his word.
You know, a strong handshake goes a long way
And I know when to take a hat off.
But I am human and I am weak
And don’t always know what to say
Or when to turn the other cheek,
Which is why a love
To walk by my side
Is the one mystery I seek to solve.

Through it all, still looking for love –
Looking for someone to take my world
And take this man
Who’s feet are planted on the ground
And turn him upside down.
I’ve lost plenty in this life
But I’m still hoping to find the one.

Well, I guess, when all is said and done,
I guess I’m just an old fashioned square
Don’t know if that’s good or bad that I’m aware.
Just looking for love and a love that’s real,
Oh, give me a chance and I hope that you too will feel
The old fashioned love
From the heart of one who has seen a thing or two.
I’ll treat you like the strong woman that you are
With admiration, respect and love,
If you’ll do the same.
